Family/Unpaid Caregiver Supports and Services
An unpaid caregiver is any person, family member, neighbor, friend, companion, or co-worker who provides uncompensated care, training, guidance, companionship or support to the waiver participant. This service works to increase confidence and empowerment in providing support to unpaid caregivers in the following areas • Behavior and communication • Community inclusion and wellness • Emotional support and stress management • Family dynamics and parenting.
Empowerment and Self-Determination Supports
This service works to guide the participant in exercising control and responsibility over other supportive services; helping the participant and their family build an interdependent care network within their community, promoting self-determination and self-advocacy.
Daily Living Skills
Training in this area provides education and skill development to support the participant’s ability to independently perform routine daily activities and effectively use community resources.
Health & Wellness
Services in this category maintain or improve the health, wellbeing, socialization, and/or inclusion of the participant with their family and peers in the community.
Sound Healing: Harnesses the power of sound vibrations to promote healing & well-being; physical, mental/emotional, spiritual, social & environmental.
Respite
This service may be put in place to help maintain and strengthen the participant’s natural supports by easing the daily stress and care demands for their family, or other primary caregiver(s), on a short-term basis.
